Already demonstrated by our academy, it’s important to Wolf Group to be inspiring the next generation and encouraging young people to consider a career in IT.
In the past month, we’ve had three work experience students with us from various schools across the region. Our work experience students were, James Fergus from Lord Lawson of Beamish, James Kane-Flynn from St Thomas More Academy and Shashika Morakanda Gamage from Heaton Manor. The three students displayed real enthusiasm and interest as they were given an insight into an IT environment, working on modules from the academy and completing various tasks.
They were given the opportunity to work with various members of staff and gained experience across a number of job roles including, software development, software testing, marketing and business development.
This was also an opportunity for the students to find out more about apprenticeships, particularly from the Q&A session with Wolf Group’s Software Development apprentices where they had the chance to ask the panel any questions about their experience so far in beginning their career in IT.
James Fergus, 15, said, “The coding has been my favourite part of the week, it’s been great getting the chance to use areas of IT I hadn’t previously known about. My week at Wolf Group has definitely made me consider an IT apprenticeship as I’m now aware of how important it is to get real experience in this sector”.
We’ve been very impressed by the amount of effort the three students have put into their week at Wolf and wish them the best of luck with their futures.
