Work Experience

Ever increasingly employers are requiring workplace experience. Having a good set of qualifications is great, but without the practical skills and experience working within an IT team, gaining employment is difficult.

Wolf gives its apprentices the opportunity to actually apply the theory they’ve learned in a practical environment. This is something which, many young people in particular, often struggle with when beginning their careers.

Wolf are well connected to many organisations in public and private sectors, spread across manufacturing, utilities, healthcare, education and property management to name but a few. Students who attain a high standard from the Academy experience may have an opportunity to gain enhanced experience with one of our high profile, corporate clients to further improve their career prospects and employability.

Initially this will involve interacting with clients either on their premises or from Wolf’s premises. You will be involved in working on their live systems, either in a development or testing capacity. Often our affiliate companies are looking out for talented individuals that they can nurture and offer an apprenticeship opportunity to.

We believe that there is an untapped talent pool of enthusiastic and gifted people that normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to be employed in the IT industry, just waiting to be discovered.

Based in the North East, the Wolf Academy is situated in North Shields, just outside of Newcastle with great transport links to and from the city.

Course Content

Fundamentally the Wolf Academy focusses on training expert software developers. Wolf has a long history of working on large and small projects in companies ranging from SMEs to Corporates.

Over time we have established key traits Wolf believe every software developer should possess, these include:

  • Excellent understanding of the software lifecycle
  • Strong technical and creative abilities
  • Good communications skills
  • An in depth insight into the entire development process

From our offices in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, each apprentice will not only gain technical experience, but experience of project management, business and systems analysis and testing disciplines from the content of the apprenticeship course.

Application Process

Stage 1 Once you’ve decided that a Wolf apprenticeship could be for you, you’ll need to get in contact with a copy of your CV. If successful, our Academy Manager will be in touch to arrange an interview.

Stage 2 At the interview stage we’ll try to attain an idea of what your hopes and expectations are, and you’ll get an idea of our ethos, the working environment and the training that we provide.

Stage 3 You’ll hear back from us either way, but if we’re happy that you’re a good fit for an apprenticeship at Wolf,  you’ll be issued with a start date within two weeks of meeting us.
